Raneem Al-Jaloudi

Raneem Al-Jaloudi

Raneem is a Jordanian artist who graduated from The University of Jordan’s faculty of arts and design with a printmaking major.

In her artistic practice, Raneem uses ‘damaged prints’ and transforms them into artworks using collaging techniques. Her work depicts expressive faces of different characters each showcasing different emotions. In her work, Al-Jaloudi aims to visually personify memory and feelings and wonders if in the process, our lineaments will remain as congruous as they always have been?

Raneem’s figures have distorted and layered facial features. For the artist, this acts as a symbolic feature for the many ‘selves’ one person could occupy in one body through different emotional states.

Diana Quandour

Diana Quandour

Diana Quandour (who also goes by the alias Charlie Milliner) has been a self-taught figurative painter since 2011, selling her first work in an exhibition at the age of sixteen. She was born in Amman, the capital of Jordan, and moved to California in 2015 in hopes of pursuing her dreams to become a professional painter— as it would prove difficult to do so in the Middle East with limited options as a female artist.

Quandour prefers to work with the mediums of oil, watercolour, and ink. Her pieces are heavily inspired by the Fauvists (Matisse, Derain, van Dongen) and German Expressionists (Kirchner, von Jawlensky, Münter). With vibrancy of colour, she invokes mixed emotions in her audience, often with seemingly androgynous characters that carry with them a haunting presence from the past.

She had her first solo exhibition “The Hats of Past Lives” in San Diego at Fairouz Café and Gallery in May 2018 (owned by Palestinian artist Ibrahim al-Nashashibi) and hopes to exhibit once again as soon as the pandemic is over. Ultimately, Quandour would like to open an art school in her country so that she may offer young local creatives the opportunities and resources that she did not have herself growing up, assisting them in actualizing their dreams.

Lubna Al Lahham

Lubna Al Lahham

Lubna Al-Lahham is an architect and artist who studied Fine Art in Mohanna Durra’s “the Ministry of Culture” in Jordan. Lubna’s artistic interests are in abstraction and returning to the human and the unconscious. The artist’s paintings are just at the intersection of landscape and abstraction. She is interested in creating space and distance that feel like the familiar world around us is imbued with ambiguity and abstraction. In her world of paintings, she seeks for her plains and visual colors to intersect, overlap, and pile-up. Eventually, to create a sense of visual distance and depth which we can be identified with.
In 2020, Lubna won the ‘Seven Painters’ Orfali Gallery Award in a mono-print artwork.

On his practice, Hamzeh says “Painting is the most perfect thing I can do. I always have this incomprehensible strange feeling that drives me to grab my brushes and paint. For me, it is instinctive to paint, exactly like it is the human instinct to breathe and eat. Painting helps me define my curiosity as I am interested in the visual scenery.”
