Ghadeer Abu Bukha
An emerging Jordanian artist, Abu Bukha was born in Saudi Arabia and now resides in Amman. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Painting and Drawing from the University of Jordan in 2009. After working at Orient Gallery as a gallery assistant for two years, Abu Bukha decided to become a full-time artist, and gives art lessons on the side. Abu Bukha’s approach is to simplify shapes and restore them to their primitive forms. She believes that the process of restoring shapes starts with analysing shades and lights and dividing areas into colour spots or lines. Following the impressionist school, colours play a main role in creating the effect she seeks while lines have less value on her canvas. Her use of different colour textures and thick applications of paint enhances shapes and creates harmony between her composition and subjects.
