ALAQ:
“Experiments with light sculpting”
Outlining the way … allowing light to travel within the canvas of clear acrylic, to trace its own path, creating magnificent light sculptures

ALAQ is a Jordan based brand specialized in the design, fabrication, and installation of illuminated art works that are individually designed and hand assembled, giving each piece an exceptional value and exclusive character.

The designers, Rand Gharaibeh and Dania Khasawneh, with their educational backgrounds in architecture, and versatile experiences and skills, have the ability to create extraordinary designs which combine both art and science.

Through a brief experience in architectural model making, the designers have been introduced to various techniques in handling acrylic and manipulating the light passing through it. This triggered the birth of ALAQ in 2015. This collection is the sum of their creative experiments with light sculpting through acrylic over the course of three years.

Mais al Azab is a Jordanian architect and artist. She holds a bachelor degree in Architecture from Jordan University and a master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. “Obsessive Inscriptions”:
Obsessive Inscriptions are a collection of embroidery-like drawings that veer between constrains of idealized geometrical orders and the beauty of imperfection coming from the humane hand. The drawings are conceived with the architects’ drafting pens and her miniaturist handwriting and filled with well-curated content of poetic words and phrases that repeat almost endlessly granting the paper space of the drawings a beautiful textile edge.
